Preacher Cookies!

Hey you guys.  Today I decided to make preacher cookies (Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies).  Before getting into the recipe, I'll tell you why we call them "preacher" cookies.  Back in the day the preacher would visit your house and sometimes it was a spur of the moment thing.  It was polite to have something prepared for the preacher to eat so you needed something you could make quickly and easily that tasted great.  Chocolate oatmeal cookies are super easy to make.

Recipe:

  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 3 cups Oatmeal (Quick Cook)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

First, set aside some wax paper to put the cookies on after.  Then, you will melt your butter in a pot.  After it has melted you can then stir in your sugar, cocoa and evaporated milk.

Bring to a good rolling boil.  You should continuously stir while you are waiting and after it comes to a boil so the chocolate does not cook to the pot.  When it comes to a boil set your timer for 2 minutes.
Immediately after the 2 minutes are up, stir in your vanilla and the oatmeal.
Now is time to take two teaspoons and dip out your cookies onto the wax paper.

Let it sit to harden before eating.
Now, after all this you have one last step...ENJOY!
